About the RFA

The Reading Foundation for Art was established as a Registered Charity in 1974. It has two aims, to create a collection of significant works of art that are cared for by Reading Museum Service and to help the museum to acquire works for its collection.

To date the Reading Foundation for Art has created a collection of one hundred and twenty works of art ranging from oil paintings by the important Modern British artist Paul Nash to photographs by contemporary Reading artist Jim Harold.

The Foundation has also contributed to the acquisition of over one hundred works in the Museum's Art Collection. These include works by Modern British artists, William Roberts, John Piper, and Christopher Nevinson as well as 18th and 19th century artists such as Joseph Farrington and William Havell.
